Gettysburg Crossing Gettysburg PA
This project is a ground-up shopping center currently in conceptual design phase in order to present the city of Gettysburg. During this process Cowie Associates is compiling a set of design guidelines for the center and to set a standard for future development in the area.The purpose of the design guidelines is to establish standards for Gettysburg Crossing in order to ensure buildings of high quality and aesthetic appeal. The goal is to present a unified architectural theme through the control of building dimensions, form, rhythm, mass, scale, materials, textures, color and roof lines. One of the challenges in retail design is appropriately balancing the desire for a unified theme with enough variety to promote an aesthetically pleasing experience. Unification can be achieved through the use of a complimentary color and material palette. Visual interested can be achieved through the unique image and identification of individual store brands.
